Two new 'Venerables'

Pope Benedict signed the decrees today, making Venerable, Pope Pius XII and Pope John Paul II.
Deo gratias.

I received the news by email from catholicculture.org at 3.45pm European time. Special thanks to them.

Don't forget the same decree also affirms the martyrdom of Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko! Is he automatically in Heaven!? (I know I ought to know the answer!)

Mark, I hadn't forgotten Fr. Jerzy, or Mary Ward, or Mary McKillop. Just I knew the maniacs would start howling about Pius XII.

Fr. Jerzy was martyred, so yes, he's in Heaven. Isn't that right?

Yes, Sandy. Absolutely right. Read your comment after I'd posted at greater length about it, that is the post after this one. In total accord with you prayer for our beloved Holy Father,
God bless!

Thanks Jane. Sometimes I like to check, being a convert.

Anyway, perfect excuse to pray for him to intercede for me.
