Nervous of premature celebration

It seems from Fr. Lombardi's statement this morning that Bishop Fellay has indeed signed the 'Preamble', but according to earlier 'Vatican Insider' speculations certain additions were inserted in that said response. We know neither the contents of the 'Preamble' nor the specifics of the recent additions. Now we must wait at least a couple of weeks for the CDF to chew it all over and then the matter will again go before the Pope. This battle is not over yet and I feel it is unwise to express an outburst of unconfined joy at the present juncture. Rather, let our prayers be increased and intensified, for Pope Benedict, Bishop Fellay, and for the Unity of Holy Mother Church.

I've read a few rumours on the web. First that it would be Sunday, then the early part of this week - now you say 'a couple of weeks.' This is as nerve racking as when we were waiting for Summorum Pontificum.

PS Your heading of 'Nervous of premature celebration' seems very apt. I just read what 'La Croix' had to say then followed their link to DICI where it states that following the press reports 'La realite est autre....Il s'agit d'une etape et non d'une conclusion. I suppose this could run and run....

Yes the Dici ref. was on Rorate which has been excellent at informing readers without getting overexcited, even though some of their commenters haven't bee able to exercise similar prudence. The two week thing is because it is thought that the CDF will not discuss the matter until its next regular meeting. The only person who could make them get a move on celebrates the 7th anniversary of his election tomorrow. We know from experience that if he thinks it is necessary, he will make his wishes known.
