Well, it is a reply, but in no way is it an answer to my letter to the Holy Father. It was posted yesterday from the Papal Nunciature in Paris and is signed by a Monsignor Assessor. The paper has the letterhead of the Secretariat of State and it is dated as being from the Vatican on April 20. In my experience that is quite normal, if a bit delayed because of recent pressures . It is however almost certainly a 'standard' letter and in no way convinces me that the Holy Father knows anything about the humble request I made to him. You all know that it was to do with the possibility of adding an invocation to the Litany of Our Lady which would invoke her under the title of Mother, or of Queen of Clergy, so appropriate and indeed particularly necessary at this time. There is absolutely no mention of this matter in the letter that arrived this morning.
I am tempted to write to the Monsignor and ask why, as he states, when writing to me at the request of the Holy Father and in his name, he doesn't actually answer my letter at all. Did the Holy Father instruct him to remain silent? I hardly think so. Rather, I suspect that 'someone' didn't think it improtant enough to bother him with.
I do not know what to do and I expect you will be as disappointed as I am with this, at best overlooking, and at worst, shirking of the subject I raised.
Any ideas or suggestions anyone?????????

asked three cardinals to read your post - don't know if it will do any good...
Do you have a Priest friend with a little "pull?" Maybe Father Mark??? Maybe someone else? The Vatican may take it a little more seriously if it actually came from clergy. Jane, ALL good and holy things get opposition at first. It's almost expected and natural. Perservere. Love, Bernadette
See, God is working already! Praise the Lord. Bernadette
Think you should write to the monsignor ,directly to him.As you rightly say,if our Holy Father had seen your letter I am sure there would have been some reference to your request.
Profound gratitude to all my commenters.I had already thought of the ideas raised by Bernadette and Sandy. The fact that you both mentioned them gives me the courage to proceed, as has the private email correspondence I have received. Rest assured that whatever I do and whatever happens as a result, I will keep you all posted.
OTSOTA: Thanks in a different way. Daren't imagine who the three are, but knowing you, they'll be 'Benedictine' to a man. Meant to email today but as you see other matters intervened. Tomorrow, I hope and pray.
Thank you again everyone for your care and concern.
In Christo pro Papa,
J
Don't forget Jane, May is the month of Mary. May be a sign. Love, Bernadette
Dear Jane, This is very frustrating indeed. The new assessor is Monsignor Wells - English speaking, but not sure if he's actually English. He should have signed that letter. One idea would be to write to the Congregation for Divine Worship. Crumbs, since the retirement of Cardinal Arinze I've no idea who the prefect is -but it will be on the Vatican website. I noticed that another friend, Bernadette, suggested asking a priest friend to write. We'll all keep praying.
Love, Mary xxxx
