Bishop Fellay silences Williamson: Let joy NOW be unconfined!

I will now go to bed happy. See Rorate Caeli.

Thank God and Our Lady for Pope BXVI and Bishop Fellay.

Came back from the restaurant and found the excellent news on Holy Smoke.

It must have been the rosary I prayed this evening for the Holy Father (in the SSPX affair)! Feeling so powerless at the time, I reached for the weapon and lit a candle....

So do add it to your next bouquet for the HF.

This is truly wonderful news, I was amazed when I first saw it this afternoon.

However, I predict that the spectre of anti-semitism will not go away soon. How long before the question is raised concerning the revised Good Friday prayer and the SSPX refusal of same? Will this be the first test of obedience for the "reformed" SSPX? What about the long-standing SSPX criticism of the Pope's visits to synagogues? Will the SSPX be expected to provide a "clarification" of past statements concerning Benedict and the Jews?

The good news keeps getting better. Have you read Fr. Schmidberger's note to the German District of the SSPX? He practically condemns Bishop Williamson's statements outright.

Fellay apologizing to the Pope? Schmidberger disassociating himself from Williamson? I think that we are witnessing a miracle unfolding before our very eyes.

Sadly, we might wake from this happy dream and find ourselves in a nightmare if the German government decides to prosecute Williamson. On the other hand, if that happens, it might spur Bishop Fellay to flee all the more speedily into the arms of Rome. Interesting times ...

My joy is definitely muted now. The Holy Father is going to impose upon the SSPX a requirement to submit to the authority of the Second Vatican Council as a condition of reconciliation. Yes, he calls out Vatican II specifically, on a par with the the authority of the Pope. I've posted a point of view on my blog.

This is hardly unexpected, and I thought it was already known.
Don't forget it is the HF's Reform of the Reform reading of the Council Docs that matters. This is what the discussions will be about.

TRUST HIM! You worry too much and it makes you negative.

God bless
J

Another thoughtt

If Benedict says so, then it IS on a par with his authority as Pope, because he IS the Pope. At least we know what his reading of it is, and that it's application and abuse of the last few decades needs addressing for the health, nay survival of the Church.
