Benedict XVI Unflinching as He Faces Tricky Lebanon Trip
A simply inspiring address this evening from our wonderful Holy Father, given on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. Read it soon in English somewhere. He is now in Lebanon and the first day has been most fruitful. Mary Hoka2_99
Yes - it was good to hear him speak on arrival without a voice-over too. I believe he will speak in French throughout his stay there. Not sure how he kept a straight face during the march past though but of course he would not have seen John Cleese and his Ministry of Funny Walks!
Hilarious! I thought the same and what made it funnier on my EWTN transmission was that they were all fore-shortened [if that's the word], making everyone appear rotund! Luckily this fault had been put right for the later broadcast. Hoka2_99
anon - I watched it on KTO and did not notice the fore-shortening. Perhaps a different camera. It looked to me as if they were all suffering from hip problems.
I've pulled myself together now Jane! Did you notice he was using a cane? I am surprised he is still allowed to come down that flight of steps alone from a plane. Wouldn't it be kinder to let him down by lift out of sight of the cameras?
Have you noticed a certain lady has ditched her specs or perhaps she lost them en route?

Yes, wasn't he remarkable. I thought Mgr K. was transfixed by it. Couldn't see much of Mgr M. Camera was placed, or viewing from the other side.

Pelarin, you are hilarious. But I'm not telling the Pope!

Now, pull yourselves together everyone. There's another difficult day ahead for our dear Holy Father.

Pelerin: I too think this mountaineering up and down aircraft steps is quite unnecessary and is beginning to be undignified. I wish they'd stop it.
I suppose you're talking about our Philippine! She must have gone in for contact lenses.
